For some students, travel planning means choosing a date and buying a ticket. For me, it also means waiting to see what governments, borders, and residency rules decide. Advice like “just come earlier” or “go home and return later” can be impossible depending on a passport or residence status. I do not always explain this because the explanation becomes personal very quickly. The uncertainty makes practical planning expensive. A flexible ticket costs more. A delayed document can affect housing, registration, and whether family can help with the move. I am not asking classmates to solve immigration systems. I only want people to remember that international students do not all move through the same open doors.
